Trolamahr's Blackberries And The Bridge Over the Edge of Tomorrow
Two stories, each with a time or space travel theme. Trolamahr’s Blackberries, Trapped In Time is a time travel adventure in which the heroine accidentally steps 150 years into her future. The tremendous lifestyle differences separating 1869 from 2021 become apparent. Some hippies from 1969 make a brief appearance. The Bridge Over the Edge of Tomorrow is a shorter space travel adventure in which the reader, through the eyes of the heroine, briefly observes differences between the future and the past.

"Last night laddie, the solar winds blew strong. Very strong indeed, and close. I had a bit of trouble with my sleeping. Always troubles me when they are so close. Always means trouble. Then, sure enough, as Indigo and I stepped out into today’s morning, there before us, not more than fifty meters distant, we spotted a young lass. She didn’t see us; she was busy picking blackberries. Now, how’s a young lass wearing a blue pinafore over a white cotton gown, and picking blackberries, going to come to be here in the middle of the forest so early in the day, I ask you that? And carrying a muzzle loading rifle to boot. Where’d she get that? There is no place she could come from around here, and be dressed like that. There simply is no place. Unless, unless she just happened to come through a bit of that overlapping time I was telling you about. ‘The wall’, that’s what we call it Tim, the edge of time we call ‘the wall’. Kind of tells it like is, doesn’t it?

"Andrew, open the door to that room. What’s going on in there?"
"I am trying professor. Give me a moment. The lock seems stuck. It’s so dark in the hallway here I can’t see what’s the matter. I’ll try jiggling the key a little bit."
"It’s very late, Andrew, what can all that hellooing be? That room is supposed to be empty. You told me it was empty. It must be empty. We begin our experiments tomorrow."
"Yes Professor. It is empty. I emptied it myself. It took all day."
"Well it doesn’t sound exactly empty now. Something that says hello is in there. Hurry with that lock."

A tavern needed a good piano man to bring the customers in, and Frank could pack them in. When Frank played, people came. You could hear his playing clear out on the street over all the other noises. But he could play gentle too if he had a mind to. He could tickle those piano keys so soft and gentle that he could make all those rowdy miners get all mushy eyed. Especially when Miss Fairlin sang along with her songs of home and childhood days.
"Well Dr.Falstrap Sir, if you take those instruments you are going to use on Mr. Fairlin's surgery to the kitchen, and put them in a pan of boiling water for twenty minutes, and if you scrub your hands with soap and hot water, I can almost assure you your patient will not develop a life threatening infection."
The sight of Andrew, Jeff, and Paula dragging the explorer pod to the base of the Bridge Over The Edge Of Time was more than Zamble was prepared for. He let out a monstrous roar.
